Work is continuing at EcoWorks with the Straw Bale building. The fitting of the window frames, was the end stages of the 'final enclosure' of the building.
The main object of this last session was to render the walls. To put a surface of lime render onto the surface of the straw.
After mixing, a first layer of render was applied to the straw. About a week to allow it to harden, and then the next application. Smooth wood frames need a layer of hesian [sacking], to allow the render something to 'key' onto.
