Each month the money raised at Demo goes towards a different Charity – On the 18th March Demo will be raising funds and Awareness For Nottingham Refugee Forum who have various groups working on Advise and support, Campaigning and Destitution support . They also provide, ESOL Classes to help with language barriers support and financial help to those left out of the system, This Organisation is a Valuable resource for Refugees Asylum seekers and those who have been shunted out of the system altogether.
Increasing numbers of refused Asylum seekers in Nottingham and in major cities across the UK are being left without the basic means of live. The Destitution fund supports several hundred asylum seekers in Nottingham – who have fled war, oppression, persecution or violence – they have nothing to live on, no accommodation, no access to healthcare, benefits or other public services, not even night-shelters. For some, Home Office errors are to blame; for others, it’s their refusal to return to a war zone such as Iraq, Congo or Sudan or face arrest or torture in the country they have fled.
The destitution fund provide an allowance of £2.50 a week+ a food package This is Very little to live on but gratefully received by those who have no other options. – this Destitution fund is in need of donations!!!
If you are able to make a contribution, it will be hugely appreciated and well used. If they are to continue this support, they constantly need donations. The administration and distribution of the Fund is done entirely by volunteers, so every penny given goes directly to help destitute people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
