A space where you can:
* you can learn how to fix your bike
* you can use tools
* you can earn bikes in return for volunteering
* you can get an inexpensive hearty vegan dinner
* you can relax and meet other cyclists
* you can learn new skills
* you can put on workshops + meetings
Please give whatever you can, we know these are hard times but that's why the space will be essential.
if you can organise a fundraising event/bakesale/sponsored bike ride... please help in whatever way you can..
PLEDGE YOUR DONATION HERE:
http://www.ulule.com/pedalmcr/support/
The money shall be used to pay our first months rent on the space.
Obviously the more we get the better for the project any more we raise can go towards wood for the workstand and any extra furniture and cafe equipment we can't find for free
Also if you have any furniture or equipment or bikes that you don't use they would be very gratefully received.
We are also looking for an electrician to help us safely put in some lights.

Don't they know that the mere mention of the word 'vegan' will make most people suspect that the people involved are just your usual bunch of earnest eco-intolerants/animal rights bores/cranky socialists/food faddists rather than real cycling fans?
And these suspicions are probably correct.
This is not the way to encourage more people to cycle, but then it is probably not intended to be.

Vegan? Why not?

And not everyone cares that the food option is vegan. I'm not even vegan and yet I understand it's cheaper, healthier, and much easier to produce vegan food. I also don't know of anyone that doesn't eat vegan food in form of the other...even if it's just chips. Aslong as it's healthy and tasty; that's all most people are bothered by.
Also, I hope it is full of crusty, cranky, greasy idiots like myself with something to say and much more to offer and share besides...beats a room full of pretentious bicycle dorks who will laugh at my grip-shift gears or gel-filled comfort seat.
From a non-'cycling fan' who loves cycling because it's fun and you can do cool stuff like skids and no-handers and go on trips with your best friends to a rope swing.
