Money?

10.11.2008 21:20

Where does the money go? To the anarchists who were arrested, to all who were arrested, anarchist or not, or to none of them?

Concerned.

10.11.2008 22:26

Have they now been charged?
I thought they were just arrested and cautioned.
If they have been charged, what offences have they been accused off?

I for one would want a protest outside of the court in support of these anti fascists activists.
Lets have a big show of support for our comrades, when are the dates and which court are they appearing at in Derbyshire?

Legal situation

11.11.2008 00:26

of all the people arrested at rwb none have been formally charged with an offence. All have been bailed to return - this means they must return to derby to see if the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) will proceed with criminal charges.

Most were arrested for violent disorder (section 2 Public Order Act 1986). The likelyhood of any being actually charged with this is slim.

The anti-fascists who disrupted the recent London bnp meeting in Bethnal Green
were also all arrested for violent disorder, bailed to return, and all were not charged with a crime.

Further information will be provided as and when...

Racial equality was not just given to black people by white people

11.11.2008 10:31

Interesting comments everyone!

However, I would argue that while white people certainly had a part to play in Obama being elected, it is due to the millions of black civil right's protesters who took part in demonstrations in the 50's/60's and beyond and kept at it that finally one them equality - they won it them selves with help of course from white people. Also Black people have not always had a chance to celebrate their ethnicity at least safely in the past especially in the U.S - the B.N.P thing seems to be more about celebrating the superiority of its race to other races

I'm not sure what you're getting at about the money there mate? Personally I'm not an anarchist, but I know people who were involved with this action and me and a group of mates thought that a benefit gig'd be a good way of organising support for the activists who were arrested... even getting to the bail appearance is going to be costly for some people with train/coach/petrol not being cheap. We're not affiliated to a group and we'll make sure the cash from the gig gets to the people who need it.

Why is everyone so negative

14.11.2008 10:26

I get sick of the 'oh you can't do that' brigade, who always talk themselves into doing NOTHING.

They can't see beyond their sad misrable faces - here's a clue. Revolution is an extremely popular and participative event, for example Portugal 1974-75, the streets were buzzing and full of D.I.Y propaganda.

The bores talk all the joy of life out what should be fun.

BAD NEWS REGARDING THE GIG

19.11.2008 13:30

Got some seriously bad news yesterday... the police have contacted me via the venue, to tell me that because the venue doesn't have a permenant entertainments licence, and I haven't applied for a temporary entertainments licence, the gig can't happen in it's present form.

I've been told that it could go ahead as long as it's an acoustic night, and we dispense with the £1 corkage for the venue. Whilst this sounds feasible, it does cause a number of major organisational problems that i dont really have the time to deal with.

Keeps your ears peeled, will put a message up when I've decided what's going to happen.

cheers

James
