join us in a march to Defend The Right To Protest in Liverpool.
harassed, warned off, threatened, detained and arrested by City Wardens and
Police even while undertaking entirely peaceful leafletting or small scale
demonstrations.
Several campaigners from (for instance) Liverpool Friends of Palestine and
Merseyside Animal Rights have been arrested and charged with serious
offences simply for trying to prevent the Police dispersing pickets and
demos or clear away city centre stalls.
Enough is enough! If you feel this is wrong and threatens a fundamental way
in which progressive groups alert people to what is going on around them,
join us THIS SATURDAY, 12TH JANUARY
With sufficient support, we plan to march from the Liverpool Social Centre
(96a Bold Street) to Cricket (Matthew Street), pausing at Hannover Street to
give out leaflets. We will also process to the Merseyside Police HQ and
Municipal Buildings to hand in letters of protest to the Chief Constable and
Leader of the Council.
The Liverpool Social Centre will be open from 10am THIS SATURDAY if you want
to paint banners or assemble placards (bring your own materials!).
We plan to move off between 12pm and 12.30pm and complete the protest by
2pm.
