Fuck the Council and Fuck the Planners

Simon O'Brien | 27.06.2007 21:21 | Analysis | Liverpool | London

I thought I was hearing things

Ex Brookside actor and now former Radio Merseyside presenter Simon O'Brien was recently sacked by the BBC for telling it how it is. Liverpool 2008 is a load of fucking bollocks. It's a chance to sell off our land to the developers and planners. On his recent breakfast show on BBC radio merseyside Simon spoke his mind and got sacked for it. His offence was to announce his true thoughts early morning on his popular show.

a picket of the building to demand his immediate reinstatement should be done
if no action is forthcoming from the bosses then other forms of protest

Hi.

Great the radio presenter did good. More people need to do this kind of thing.

I am a photographer. During the winter I was on a job where I was supposed to be photographing Gareth Thomas junior minister for international development. He was talking bull's shit about reducing global poverty through lobbying the G8. When he had finished talking I walked up to him put my hand out, he looked confused but passed me the mike. I addressed the audience and politely pointed out the futility and inaccuracy of the minister's comments. The mike was soon cut off. Within an hour I got a call from the newspaper I had been working for, and the next day was told I would not be getting further work from them. I am not at all sorry. It was educational. A couple of people applauded me and came up me after the event and congratulated me. They said they had to be cautious though because, as council employees, they were concerned they could loose their jobs by showing open support. I believe that increasingly the world of work is an environment supported by a lack of truth. If one does not go along with this one gets sacked.

Anyway I would encourage everyone the not be frightened and to tell the truth whenever they feel like it at work. It is fun and will probably mean that you have to find new work which is quite likely to be better then the old.
