The defence campaign, Defend Eucharia and Timeyi Campaign (DETC), set up to defend them, has suceeded in sending over 800 individual letters to the Home Office appealing for compassionate leave to remain, which they have so far refused to grant, despite the secret war going on in Nigeria, which only last week resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people and the kidnapping of four others in the Niger delta region. Eucharia's husband and daughter were also victims of this war and have not been seen or heard of since April 2004.
Now is the time to redouble our efforts, put aside sadness and prepare for struggle. Solidarity not sympathy! We call on all supporters of the DETC, anti-racists, socialists, anti-imperialists, anti-deportation campaigners, etc. to:
Demonstrate against Eucharia and Timeyi's possible detention! Defend all asylum seekers! No to all Labour's racist asylum laws! No to deportations!
