Quite aside from the fact that none of the regions councils has felt it necessary to survey the region and produce a published report into the opinions expressed about a second mersey crossing I noticed something peculiar today.
On Halton Council's website (www.halton.gov.uk) there is the chance to take part in an on-line poll. The question is:
"The new Mersey Crossing - a new beginning.
Do you agree that we need a new Mersey Crossing? "
You are then asked to choose 'Yes' or 'No'
Whatever one you choose you are taken to a page registering a 'Yes' vote.
Surely this cannot be the case! Am I just not too knowledgeable about the web or is this in fact a warped way of getting a preferred result which will undoubtedly be used to back up their stance?

USA have had the same problems with their Election Machines.

Hopefully, this lack of consultation and lack of bravery on behalf of the Merseyside authorities in tackling car use will come out in the open.
It is strange that it takes this Government to rein in the Councils and impose tolls on any scheme. For all the stick we give the Government at leat they are willing to start pricing people out of their ridiculous choices (even if, sadly, the bridge gets built).

Have any other solutions been proposed (public transport etc)
I tried to find out on the Halton Borough Council Website but there just seems to be lots of information on how busy the Runcorn Bridge is.
Any info greatly appreciated.
