Expose Blair's Hypocisy on UK Hostage!!!

SWPC | 24.09.2004 12:35 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Repression | Liverpool | London

Blair is lapping up the publicity, on one hand appearing tough on terrorists, and on the other appearing compassionate to the family of British Hostage Ken Bigley.
The truth is very different. The bloodthirsty fools who took the hostages, and killed two so far, have NOT asked for the release of Saddam's evil chemists.
They have asked for the release of large numbers of innocent women still held in Iraqi jails, where brutal treatment and humilitation are heaped upon them.
Rather than admit that the UK government is helping to cover this up, Blair and Bush are prepared to let another innocent man die at the hands of brutal fanatics.
We shouldn't be pleading with Blair to help, we should be kicking his ass.

Women's Peace Camp calls for Release of Prisoners and Hostage.

The Women's Peace Camp has called for the immediate release of the hostage Ken Bigley as well as hundreds of innocent Iraqi women still held in awful conditions in Iraq.
We condemn the kidnapping of these men, and the pointless murder of two innocent Americans. Equally,we condemn the murder, arrest, rape and torture of any innocent people in Iraq.

All week we have seen Bush and Blair talk tough about not giving in to terrorists, but this is not a question of the good guys and the bad guys.
This is a country where people are trapped between the bad guys and the OTHER bad guys.
The powers occupying Iraq have twisted the truth about the plight of hostage Ken Bigley.
The kidnappers asked for the release of women held in prisons by the occupying powers. The occupiers want to cover this up, and say they only hold the two female weapons scientists of Saddam's regime, who nobody wants to see released.
After the scandal surrounding the pictures of torture earlier this year, the politicians would rather let this man die than admit that they are still holding innocent women in jail.
Ken Bigley is an unfortunate pawn held captive by cold blooded killers, who are appealing to mass murderers to release the innocent.
His kidnappers should show belated wisdom and compassion in letting him live.
They will gain nothing by killing him, as they have done only harm by killing two
others.
What would help the Iraqi prisoners would be media interest in the plight of women who have been beaten and raped in US custody. Instead, they have put their evil acts on the front page.

Rather than cyncial ploys to promote their public image, the British and UK Governments must act now to release all innocent prisoners still held in Iraq, because until Iraqis see justice, more families will have to suffer awful situations like this.
This man should be back with his family, and the Iraqi women still incarcerated in Bush and Blair's dungeons should be back with their families but the politicians have other plans.
The blame for the death of the other two hostages lies not only with the fanatics who carried out the act, but with the politicians who refused to do the right thing to help him.
There is still time for the life of Ken Bigley to be spared, if the pressure is there to free innocent Iraqi women.

this is as good as it gets and it's not very good. i have looked and failed to find a transcript of the kidnappers' demands. what *exactly* do they want? it might help to know. so why don't we know?

Bigley a Soldier for Western Capital

27.09.2004 07:56

The whole purpose of this war was to clear the way for people like Ken Bigley to go in there and enrich themselves and the companies which employ them. Ken Bigley represents all that this war is being fought for, and as such he is a legitimate target. He is a frontline soldier for Western capital.
All our hearts ache for Mr Bigley's family. But is their pain any different from that of any soldier's family? No different from the pain of tens of thousands of parents in Iraq who have lost their children to sanctions and war, so that Mr Bigley could go and enrich himself over their graves.
Charles Kennedy said last week that we cannot give in to terrorists. If Mr Kennedy's opposition to the war is sincere, if he truly understands the illegality of the occupation, then surely he should support the release of all prisoners in British and US captivity in Iraq. If the demand for the release of female captives is not met by the criminal occupying power, then the hostage should be executed.

PS ... What was Ken Bigley doing in Iraq?

27.09.2004 08:40

Anybody else sick of the euphemisms about Mr Bigley "helping to rebuild Iraq"? Let's remember which company he was working for (for a considerable sum of money) and what he was doing there: he was employed by Gulf Services Co, helping to build and service a US base in the town of Taji. Innocent? Give us a break.
