Don't vote?

15.05.2009 16:21

And while you're busy telling people not to vote, the BNP walk into Europe via the PR route, thus gaing pots of money and credibility for their shitty little party. Whether you approve of voting or not, on this particular occasion it's our duty to stop the BNP and voting for the Greens or whoever is the only way to achieve this.

Neddy

a happy day

15.05.2009 16:57

Thanks for the best laugh of the day. It's almost sad to see this pathetic effort at stopping thre BNP's 29 million leaflets, TV ads, internet campaign, billboards, posters, etc. Keep it up boys - if you students can manage to get out of bed before midday that is!

Rich bastards

15.05.2009 18:18

Neddy, and vote for the people that turned folk to the BNP in the first place?

Mike, the BNP are a long established political group, with thousands and thousands of £s behind them, they've been scrounging for months to get money for this campaign. They are also made up of a fair few of the upper clarss, of course they're going to be able to afford loads of fucking leaflets and an internet team!

Nick Griffin's mouldy arse

a vote not made

15.05.2009 19:05

By not voting you increase the probablity of the BNP gaining seats

Surely it is more sensible to vote for anyone but the BNP, to keep them from getting seats, but focus mainly on participation

We need to vote this time...

16.05.2009 15:44

The BNP only need 9% to get a seat, so voting for someone will be needed to stop them getting one or more seats. Why limit tactics?

Voting does not legitimise the system – it's just a tactic, it doesn't limit any other tactic as it only takes a few minutes to do it. If you don't vote someone will still get in, it won't bother the politicians – not voting is not a tactic at all - voting helps limit the damage.

Don't Be Conned By Electoralist Idiots

16.05.2009 16:32

At every single election that I can remember (as well as the referendum on joining the EEC) there've been idiots trying to tell Anarchists that they should abandon their principles and vote for some political party or another. Generally we have been told we HAVE to vote AGAINST someone.

If the BNP make headway in the forthcoming Euro elections it will be because the Left in this country have no currency whatsoever with the working-class, because they have been utterly betrayed by New Labour, and because of apathetic anti-racists who think that voting "against" the BNP is a substitute for real antifascist politics.

We all have a "duty" to stop the BNP, as one of the shabby idiots above put it. Voting Labour, Green, or whatever has absolutely nothing whatsoever with that. No wonder ordinary people feel patronised by the Left.

No Anarchist of any principle will vote in the Euro elections, irrespective of the drivel the Left try to sell us. These scum have conned us before, don't be conned again. Don't take part in the rotten electoral system, don't lend it credibility by participating in it, and organize properly to smash the BNP on the streets - not by this pitiful excuse for 'politics'.

At least we have the bottle to give out our own leaflets rather than hiding behind postal workers who are frightened of losing their jobs. Cowards.

The BNP are absolute scum

Hmmmm

16.05.2009 18:39

The Labour Party sacrificed all its principles to 'get the tories out'. Now Anarchists are being told to ditch their principles 'to keep the BNP out'.

BTW no wonder the Labour Party and unions are pumping money into Hope Not Hate, the kind of bollocks they're promoting is probably the only way they'll get any votes at all.

If the BNP get elected as MEPs it won't be because a handful of anarchists didn't vote.

Nice one Antifa, these are quality posters.

Vote

16.05.2009 20:31

So you're anarchists, great; work on smashing the state. In the meantime don't let the money and the mechanism of the state get into the hands of a party that will have you killed or deported systematically. How is it compromising yourself to vote? In this instance it is the most effective thing to do against the fascists, if the far right get too powerful; Antifa, amongst other political and racial groups, will be horribly brutalized. Don't let that happen, just because of some overly dogmatic principles that prevent you from acting when it is most important.

Ben Galleani.

Benny Galleani

You can smash the system and vote!

16.05.2009 21:23

How the hell does voting stop you from organizing? How does voting stop you from smashing the state? How does going to the polls to vote Green or the Monster raving Loony Party or whoever, for a few minutes stop you from fighting the fash?

The system does not rely on lots of people voting, it makes no difference at all the system will remain. However just how bad the system is, is related to if people vote or not.

Great posters

Good to see antifa displaying a level of integrity and consistency which our professional politicians (and some posters on this thread) clearly lack

No vote = helping the BNP win

31.05.2009 00:32

I would like to point out what others have done, that the electoral system does not rely on a number of people voting and therefore will remain credible unless people are elected and then seek to change the system. By not voting all you appear to be is someone who could not be bothered to vote. No one will know the reason why you did not vote and no one will care so you will make no difference except that the BNP supporters WILL vote and therefore you will be increasing their percentage by not voting, particularly if people in large numbers do not vote, which usually happens in these elections. There has been poor turnout in the past and that has not stopped the elections continuing so where's your logic in refusing to vote and therefore not selecting your preferred candidate. Therefore by not voting and encouraging others to do the same you are helping the BNP as they will have a bigger percentage share in the total votes when they are counted. THEREFORE VOTE!

John

Don't be hoodwinked

where do I complain about nazi emblems used in advertising

01.06.2009 23:23

Sorry to contact you about an unrelated issue but couldn't find any other way of contacting ANTIFA.
A local company is advertising using nazi imagery and their logo even has the nazi eagle holding a piece of their merchandise!
Their customer base is in the youth market and I am really concerned that they are influencing children who have no idea what the imagery on the stickers, bags and t-shirts represents. The magazine advertising shows background images of people using the nazi salute and a more recent article shows president Obama as the devil standing alongside hitler
where do I go to complain?
