As the latest crisis of capitalism begins to bite, and the greed of corporations, the finance sector and the political elite is ever more exposed, we believe that now more than ever anarchist ideas and practises are both increasingly relevant, and the solution to the worldwide problems we all face. We are currently considering theming workshops at the bookfair around the twin topics of ‘recession’ and ‘resistance’. Full details for the bookfair, and a callout for stalls and workshops/meetings, will go out by early June.
We hope to organise a series of events in the week before the bookfair that promote and introduce anarchist ideas and practices - a film night is already planned, and we’d like to see other public meetings/debates, and social events during the week. If you are interested in organising (or jointly organising) an event or activity under the anarchist bookfair banner, please get in touch with us by email.
Next Bookfair Collective organising meeting: Tuesday 19 May, 7.30pm, at Kebele social centre, 14 Robertson Rd, Bristol BS5 6JY.
In the days after the bookfair, the word on the street is that a number of groups will be organising a series of exciting events, actions and opportunities. Keep your eyes peeled for information!
Lastly, many thanks to the St Werburghs centre for hosting us last year. We wish the centre all the best with its redevelopment works.
Be inspired! Get organised! Let’s get free!
