All interested welcome
The Camp for Climate action received national and international attention. Yorkshire was once again at the centre of debates around the future of energy. People from across Yorkshire have shown their commitment to positive change and their determination to stop climate criminals in their tracks. Once again big fossil fuel business has shown that it will always put making money before the interests of people and the environment.
We now have an opportunity to build on the successes of the camp and to take the next steps towards claiming back this crazy world. If you were involved in the neighbourhood, or if you are simply interested to find out more, you are welcome to this Yorkshire Neighbourhood re-group.
The agenda for the meeting will be formed by everyone who attends. Topics are likely to include:
Meet, greet, and feedback from groups across Yorkshire (potentially Bradford, Hebden Bridge, Sheffield, York, Leeds and more)
Ideas for action/campaigns we can take/work on locally.
Ideas for what we would like the Camp for Climate Action to do next at a UK wide level. (note: all local and regional groups have been asked to discuss this to feed in to next UK wide meeting)
Do we want to organise a Yorkshire neighbourhood at the next Climate Camp?
Coordinating with other local groups, such as ‘Leeds Stop Climate Chaos’.
How we can keep in touch, share responsibility and organise without hierarchy.
Plans are already afoot for a further Camp for Climate Action next summer. The next UK wide Climate Camp planning meeting will again be hosted by Leeds at The Common Place, over the second weekend of January. For more info go to: www.climatecamp.org.uk
