The BPP may be a small fascist party, made up of misfits and idiots, with little chance of electoral success, but they should not be tolerated for one instant on our streets. Eddy Morrison has already admitted that he has little chance of election on this occasion, but for hard-line Nazis like the BPP, electoralism is only ever a tactic, a way of stretching their slimy tentacles into working-class areas and stirring up racial hatred. It is about ‘street presence’, something which fascists should always be denied.
Like the British National Party, the BPP, are using local issues to get their foot in the door, and lying to people about their real politics. In Bramley, their key issue has been the possible closure of a local shopping precinct, something which councillors from the mainstream parties care little if nothing about. They are of course, also blaming local problems on an influx of asylum-seekers and immigrants (though in truth the BPP only oppose immigration from people who aren’t white.)
The reality is that the BPP cares more for Adolf Hitler than it does for Bramley. Morrison and his fellow Nazis may be cranks, but they are also dangerous. This is a party whose leadership spew out the most vile racist filth on a daily basis, who deny the Holocaust, who advocate and glorify racist attacks, and who venerate David Copeland, the ‘Brixton Bomber’. Anyone who thinks this Nazi outfit should be ignored is simply ignorant of the facts.
The BPP may be small; every reason to smash them now, before they can poison more young minds with their racist filth. Antifascists should be doing everything possible to counter their lies and stop them organising in Bramley. Morrison may ultimately get a pitiful number of votes in the May elections, but every vote for fascism is one too many.
