15 BNP members rallied in Salford, Greater Manchester, yesterday morning (19th). They protested against an "anti-white" comment made by a Coronation Street actor in the ITV programme. Police was present to stop counter-activities.
About 15 or so white, middle-aged, male BNP supporters turned up. They were the self-labelled "elite" of Oldham, Burnley and Harrogate BNP. They brought their own 'camera team', a St. George's flag and spent the whole time interviewing each other.
The picket was held outside the ITV Granada Film Studios in Salford. ITV employees and passers-by ignored the men and looked rather embarrassed at their presence.
A handful of police stood with them. Manchester Police had taken to provoke the BNP a bit by sending a black officer to their protection. The BNP website quotes one officer to have justified the police presence with the BNP's need to be protected "in case the antis turn up".

May I ask the question why the lone Black police officer was protecting the 'middle aged BNP? And another, who was he protecting them from? Surely they have a right to protest and to protest without fear! Are my years of work toward equality wasted?
