so:

The local acute and mental health trusts have announced prposals for far reaching changes to services in huddersfield and surrounding areas including:
- The closure of huddersfields childrens wards - to be transfered to halifax.
- Transferal of consultant maternity services to halifax, only midwife lead services will remain in huddersfield.
- Closure of gynaeclolgy ward in huddersfield - transfering to halifax
- closure of st. lukes hospital with inpatient services transsferred to HRI site and low secure services provided in wakefield.
- all elective orthopaedic, breast surgery and general surgery to be carried out at calderdale. leaving emergancy and complex surgery at HRI.
These proposals have rightly ignited a storm of protest. They will hit the most vunerable members of our communities the hardest: on top of all this, there is another proposal to make cuts at honly abulance station. this will leave the local community without a vitaly needed service on the doorstep.
there is no doubt that these proposals will risk lives. they are part of new labours drive to centralise NHS serices. they are going further and offering up large chunks of the NHS to the private sector. Whole trusts are being privatised nationaly, meaning private companies are more than ever, profiting from ill healt! we are organising the following demands:
- Oppose all closures
- Say no to all forms of privatiseation
- Defend and extend locally based specialist services and jobs
- Cancel all NHS debts
- Proper public funding for the NHS
