Around midnight on the 8th of November, whilst walking back to my house in Hyde Park I happened upon some young chavs who decided to pull a knife on me and threatened to stab me if I refused to give them my phone. So I gave it to them, got home and reported it to the police.
For a change, being on the right side of the law, they were very helpful and took a full statement. However today, the 11th of November, two CID came round to 'have a little chat'. They proceded to, firstly, question the fact that the crime ever happened threatening a prison sentence of possibly 18 months, not very supportive you might think. In backing this up they let me know of the secret camaras they have installed around Hyde Park, including inside the houses of unsuspecting tenants. It would seem that the police have arangements with local landlords to have cameras pointing out onto the streets to detect and possibly solve crimes. They assured me that if the crime did happen, it would certainly be picked up on camera.
Why were we not told? is this another another piece of evidence for us to prove the development of a police state? do I have a camera in my house? what else are they watching?
Many questions, few answers. Next time you go outside feel paranoid because they are watching you!
