Salvatore Signore is an anarchist from Lecce, arrested on May 12 2005 together with four other anarchists, following the so-called Operation ‘Nottetempo’.
In spite of the fact that no act states that he must be kept in isolation, Salvatore is being inflicted an harsh treatment in Salerno prison, where he was moved on July 11.
Salvatore should not be subjected to any restriction as regards the mail, and he should be allowed to have contacts with other prisoners during the socialisation time. On the contrary, he is locked up for 23 hours a day and cannot see anybody apart from the guards. Moreover, the latter do not hand in anything (books, magazines, pamphlets) which is not letters and practise a series of abuses, such as not allowing him to have showers on a regular basis and refusing to fulfil on time any basic request (toilet paper, change of sheets, etc).
All this considered, we invite everybody to send letters of protest to the local authorities and to the management of the Salerno prison, so as to let them know that Salvatore, despite the isolation and the abuses, is not alone.
Furthermore, during the last week of July, other prisoners held in Salerno have started a protest, beating the bars and refusing the food. As he is in total isolation, Salvatore could not understand the precise reasons for the protest, probably due to the very bad living conditions in that prisons.
SOLIDARITY TO SALVATORE AND ALL THE PRISONERS!
