Joke of a McDonalds trial continuing on April 1st

McDonalds Fool | 16.03.2009 20:15 | Animal Liberation | Globalisation | Repression | Cambridge | World

No this ain’t a April fools day prank, the joke of a trial does continue!

The campaigner who was arrested in June 2008 for a peaceful action inside McDonalds in Cambridge will be back in Court on April 1st 2009.

The court case under Section 5 of the Public Order Act, arising out of the action which was taken for the anniversary of the now famous McLibel case, was partially heard on the 2nd March but the joke of a case has (appropriately) been postponed until April 1st.

Section 5 of POA makes it a offence to " a) use threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, or b) display any writing, sign, or other visual representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting, within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused alarm, harassment or distress thereby". The campaigner has pled ‘not guilty’ to this offence.

You can see a video of the action here and make up your own mind!:  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/cambridge/2008/06/401637.html
