This type of demography has attracted Tesco's market researchers to the area; their interests being profit rather than community! All existing evidence shows the advent of a Tesco 'express' store to have a detrimental effect on nearby ,small businesses--hence the local 'No To Tesco' campaign and March.
The depth and strength of feeling was shown on the 24th November by the large numbers, the wide range of backgrounds and the age range of those taking part.
