Raising awareness about poverty amongst the elderly.

A petition demanding that this society take better care of our elderly

Petition to the Prime Minister in support of pensioners

The United Kingdom is the fifth strongest economy in the world, it currently spends billions on wars, and is now considering spending over 20billion on upgrading the Trident nuclear weapon system.
Yet our pensioners are the most impoverished in western europe.
During winter time many pensioners face the prospect of having to either pay for food or heat. Our elderly suffer whilst gas and electricity suppliers are steadily making huge profits through price rises. This petition demands that the present government link the state pension with salary increases, and
that pensioners are made exempt from paying water and sewage
rates.

Old are rich

Why do people keep moaning that old people are poor? most old people i see are driving new cars or get FREE bus passes and £200 from the goverment to pay their heating bills (this would cover over six months of my electric bill) they have had all their life to save for old age and they probably own a house with no morgage. ok so there are some pensioners on income support who are poor and are staying in overpriced sheltered housing but you don't see the rich pensioners helping them. i personaly dont want a pension as i dont care if i am poor at that age, i survived on less than £30 a week at 18 so i can live on the state pension of over £80 a week when im 65.
