And Plane Stupid strike again...in Cambridge

alphonse | 07.11.2006 09:34 | Climate Chaos | Ecology | Cambridge

Following the call by direct action group Plane Stupid for a National Day of Action against short haul flights, activists in Cambridge have also taken to the streets..

After a day spent picketing 4 of Cambridge's central travel agents, Plane Stupiders 'closed' 2 of these in the early hours last night to coincide with the network of similar actions taking place across the country. The travel agents were targeted with posters saying 'CLOSED: FOR TOTAL RETHINK' and were D-locked shut.

Why? I don't understand. Surely the wrong targets have been picked and this would only alienate the campaign from working class people. Isn't it business that are using both long and short haul flights to maximise profits and causes the environmental problems. I just don't understand it and it seems a poorly misguided and ill-judged campaign. Wrong tactics, wrong people.
