Protest at University Careers Fair

Against arms | 27.01.2006 09:46 | Anti-militarism | Ecology | Cambridge

Awkward questions for Exxon and lots of awareness raising at careers fair.

There was a careers fair last night with plenty of nasty companies in attenance (eg Rolls Royce, GKN, Unilever, Exxonmobil and Shell).

We were there to make the innocent students aware of the things they wouldn't be told at the stalls - such as the military side of RR and GKN's manufacturing and Exxon's appauling environmental record.

It was a peaceful action - the proctors didn't object to us being there so we stayed for the whole event, handing out plenty of leaflets and asking representatives from the companies awkard questions.
We had a good respose overall.

All in all, a sucess.
