Just Living: an ethical guide to Cambrige

justliving | 01.12.2005 12:59 | Education | Cambridge

An ethical guide to Cambridge is under construction, and could use your help!

A local group of volunteers is putting together an ethical guide to Cambridge, highlighting organisations that promote community, empowerment, redistribution, workers rights, environmentalism, and animal rights. The project, codenamed "Just Living" draws inspiration from similar publications available in other cities such as Manchester and Rome, along with the Ethical Shopping Guide.
The project has a website - www.justliving.org.uk - where people can read about the project and contribute suggestions for organisations to be included in the guide. Information about organisations that have already been researched and listed will be available soon on the site.
The plan is that initial efforts will be put into producing an A5 booklet, with the website being used as a collation point for information; potentially a lot more stuff than will fit in the guide. After the production of the booklet it is anticipated that the website can continue to provide up-to-date information about an increasing number of organisations in the area.
It's possible that funding will be available for producing the guide, or that it will be supported through sales in a not-for-profit kind of way.

The group plans to collaborate with university students from Cambridge Uni and ARU who are producing their own guides aimed specifically at the student community.

Anyone wanting to get involved is welcome to either contribute submissions through the form on the website, or to get involved with the planning meetings that are currently taking place weekly - these are held in various locations around Cambridge, and would-be attendees are advised to get in touch by email in advance. The group can be contacted at  info@justliving.org.uk with any questions or comments.
