Indymedia is one of the most important and innovative things on the web - and the huge amounts of work which goes into it all round the world, in all levels, is astounding, and def deserves a 'dontation' of 3 quid.. bargain I say...
It's not often I pay-to-play but this was an exception...
Cheers once again Indymedia...

BUT
£3 isnt going to break anyones bank (even those on benifits) and £3 for 6 or 7 bands and DJs till 6 am or later is hardly a bum deal what with cheap vegan food and cheap drinks.
and lots of people gave a great deal more than that (£3), and i didnt see any one who wasnt smiling all night and I didnt hear anyone complaining but lots of complaiments "this was the best party I been to since I been in London (6 years)" was one .
I would say that almost all had a really good time but there is always one aint there who has to pick on some small fuck-up and moan (i guess you'd moan if you won the lottery)
afterall everyone who worked on the party did it for NO monetry gain the money all went into the indy server apeal or for the buildings bills (in the case of the cafe)
the bands all played for free and the good people who gave us a brilliant venue worked for nada.
and
THANKS to all and everyone who contributed from one of IMC-UK

... and to everyone else that helped out on the night: all the bands, dj's and sound people, all the people from St. George's Church, everyone that volunteers in the imcuk kollectives, and of course, everyone that turned up, donated and made it into a brilliant cellebration.
last week the very much needed new servers were just an abstract necessity, this week they have become much more real! ... big thankx to everyone ... mil gracias!!
imcista in london
ps: and to cheated ... what can i say .. but get a life!!! ..
it is easy to moan when somebody else is doing all the work isn't it? .. look at it this way, next time you publish in indy-uk think about the 3 quid you got cheated that night ... every penny of them helped make this possible.

obviously since this was a fund raising party there was going to be donation taken at the door but lets stop making out that nobody got a cut and that everything bar expenses went to indy, thats simple not true.
people bring their kit got paid, maybe some just asked for expenses but many asked for something to make it 'worth their while'
the venue took nearly a grand and it's a squat so lets not pretend that was all expenses - it was a percentage of the takings
indy got almost two grand so nice fast server should be in the pipeline

Indymedia FBI party a ripoff?

£3 for a night out, it is difficult to see how anyone can complain. Where else could you get a night's entertainment so cheap? And everything inside was dirt cheap. Good food, cakes, cups of tea with free refills, beer at £1 a bottle of lager. Whatever you paid at the door, you more than got back once inside.
It reminds me of the previous weekend where people were saying £10 for the BeyondTV weekend was too dear! Too dear, I thought it was cheap. Two days of films and parties at night!
And we should not forget that these events, apart from the opportunity to party and have a good time, were fund raising and awareness raising events.
Indymedia needs new servers. As anyone who regularly posts articles will be all too familiar.
Where though there may have been grounds for complaint is not being upfront about the entrance fee. If it was to be a minimum entrance fee of £3, then that should have been clearly stated on the invites. That way, no one would have had cause of complaint.
I will just be grateful when Indymedia has servers that work! But maybe some people have nothing better to than watch paint dry.

those who had no cash genuine were let in for free i know i did the door so cut the bulshit, the food was excelent and to say that there were those who were in it for the money please get real. the tax you paid on the beer you bought (on wich little proffit was made bought inefectual Mps) the cause was good and it atchieved it's primary objectives, in order to not get evicted for extrapolation , you have to pay for services gas electric ect and water.some of us did not even get to enjoy the party and those who complain at the organisers by AND LARGE STILL TAKE MONEY FROM THE STATE THEY SUPOSEDLY HATE,what are you unashamed hypocrits or are you working for the man ,if you don,t like it don,t come the movement does not need you.
