J22: STREET PARTY (final announcement)

a person | 17.06.2002 14:32 | Cambridge

Final announcement about Saturday's big street party

Everyone welcome. If you're not from the cambridge area then why not hop on the public transport and make it a day out.

Bring drums, whistles, horns, juggling balls, clubs, poi, or anything else you can think of that will add to the carnival atmosphere.

Or just bring your happy smiley selves and your mates :-)

Come and support this local action, make a stand against excessive use of polluting cars, against war and global injustice, against the authoritarian power structures that dominate our increasingly commercialised society, and even against capitalism itself.

But above all, come and party and revel and enjoy yourselves in the streets of Cambridge.

Wear anticapitalist/anti-corporate-globalisation colours (whatever that means to you)... or wear whatever the fuck you want :-)

Let's keep it peaceful, this is a party not a riot.

Meetup: 2pm Midsummer Common on foot
2pm Castle Hill for Critical Mass

For more details and a map of cambridge indicating where these places are in relation to the bus station and the train station look at the article under the "upcoming section" in the top right hand corner of the front page of this website.

Hope to see lots of you there on J22.

Everyone Welcome

We certainly look forward to everyone coming, and discouraging comments like 'this is a party not a riot' are entirely unnecessary since we know that everyone has common sense. So feel free to riot if you can do it in a way that won't hinder anyone else having a good time!

A.C.A. welcomes all sorts of anti-capitalists - we all hope to see you on the 22nd!

Four Fun Fairs on MidSummer Common.

18.06.2002 16:56

I won't be in Cambridge for this street party.
But if I was what part of MidSummer common as there will be four funfairs on the common that day which may make spotting each other a problem.
Also one might find people wonder of to the fun fair rather than stick around for street party. Also I would watch out for hard cases from the fair.
Also it seems there is little publicity for this street party around Cambridge, and not that inclusive, only appealing to a certain people.
