Weekend of political discussion + party.
Free.
In a squat.
Kicks off tonight with a mad crazy party.

COME TO THE SOCIAL CENTRE

* Party today (friday). Lots of loud music, chillout room. Turn up any
time in the evening.
* Direct action discussion on Saturday (See below for more details)
* Talks about squatting, the social centre movement, and the Zapatistas on
Sunday. (See below for more details)

** Free cafe all of Saturday and Sunday.
** The social centre is on '0' Covent Garden, on the corner of Mill Road,
just past Kelsey Kerridge sports centre.

* The talks and discussions will be informal, and you can drop in whenever
you want.


TIMETABLE


Saturday

11:30-12:30 Discussion: Different forms of direct action
History of direct action and current context (eg what are Trident
Ploughshares, Wombles, Earth First...) Discussion on principles and
practicalities behind various tactics.

12:45-13:45 Workshop: Making quick group decisions
How do affinity groups and consensus decision-making work during direct
action? Practicing in scenarios.

14:00-16:00 Roleplay: Getting comfortable with direct action
Role-playing various possibly risky direct action scenarios. Including
road-blocking, how
to handle aggressive policemen, being detained, carried...

16:30-17:15 Briefing: The 'law'
Briefing on the legalities & illegalities of various forms of direct
action. Followed by discussion on practicalities - "It might be illegal,
but will I get caught?"

17:30-18:30 Planning: anti-war direct action
Planning session for specific direct action against the war. Choosing an
aim, targets and tactics.


Sunday

Squatting
It is legal. It makes use of otherwise unwanted space. You don't need a
mortgage - the practicalities of squatting.

Social Centres
.. and Ya Basta in Italy have used sauatted buildings as social centres to
present an alternative to the madness of capitalism: how the social centre
movement has worked in Italy, and is now taking off here.

Chiapas
.. and Ya Basta was a support group for the Zapatistas. How the indigenous
peoples of Chiapas, Mexico have started a fightback against the tyrrany of
the Mexican government. What the philosophy of Marcos and the Zapatistas
is, and how they have gone about trying to put it into place.

What Next?
The state of the world today. Reports from this weekends conference /
protests in Barcelona. Where should the anti-capitalist movement go from
here?

yipee. anyone in london check-out the Radical Dairy, 47 Kynaston Rd N16 on friday nite for benefit cafe and open acoustic music and sat nite for rip-roaring revolutionary djs plugged-in in tha bass-ment! and to top it all off with a major chill sesh...it's reggae nite on sunday, after a vegan roast and film screening that is!
so come and get down at the 'Dairy folks, Stoke Newingtons Occupied Autonomous Community Social Centre.

its good to see this happening, the problem is that so many peeps are wrecked by the exertions of the all night party that they miss the days events, i,ve seen it happen many times. i also think that a party does not really draw new plp into the movement as newbies will probably have have thought long and hard before getting involved. The party thang seems to be a obsession that is peculiar to uk activists, maybe even english ones, why not have the party on another weekend?

Yeah I think I might agree with the last poster.
Is the best way to get people involved to try to pull them into "anarchist" sub-culture/social scene?

I don't know, I just thought I'd say something on the matter...
