Venezuela : observers in The Hague!

Today 15th of august, some 30 demonstrators were present in front of the embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Hague. We planned to be there to watch over the electoral process. We were there in solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement that is posing a real alternative to neo-liberalism and to demand a transparent and fair electoral process.

We, the observers, noticed that the electoral process at the Venezuelan Embassy was far from transparent. The guidelines given by the CNE turned out to be totally neglected. To guarantee the transparency of the electoral procedure, the embassy was given the order to have two electoral witnesses of both parties present. With indignation of the Bolivarian demonstrators all witnesses turned out to be part of the opposition. This evident manipulation only strengthened the voice of the Bolivarian Movement in Holland at the embassy to show their support for the Venezuelan Revolution. The Bolivarian movement doesn’t stop at the Venezuelan borders, once more showed by the diversity in nationality and background of the demonstrators present in the Hague. At arrival there was a provocative and hostile attitude from the YES-voters. Later on space opened up for discussion and exchange of viewpoints.

Venezuela : waarnemers in Den Haag!
