Two seperate groups of activists have managed to breach security at Faslane naval base, home of Britain's Trident nuclear submarines.
The activists were taking part in a day of actions organised by Trident Ploughshares and Scottish CND, which managed to close the nuclear submarine base with a blockade of all the vehicle gates into the base.
Following the end of the blockade at 5pm the first group cut their way into the high security nuclear base, and were arrested about 50 metres away from the submarine berths.
The second group were arrested inside the base some hours later, after waiting for dark to make their attempt to enter the base.
The breach of security is particularly embarassing as there were several hundred extra police at the base to deal with the blockade.
